Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)*
The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course taught by active EMS personnel provides comprehensive training—giving the participant the knowledge and skills needed to perform life-saving interventions on critical patients. Using both lecture and scenario-based training from prior medical runs we have done to give you real-world knowledge. This course is very comprehensive that enables you to train and practice for the state exam. We try to train you for the real world but also for the state exam.
The course provides emergency medical responders with the necessary tools for out-of-hospital medical and traumatic emergencies following medical protocol.
Emergency Medical Responder course curriculum includes:
- Oxygen Therapy
- CPR and defibrillation
- Basic airway management
- Emergency field childbirth
- Lifting and moving patients
- Assisting with medications such as epinephrine auto-injectors
- Triaging and handling multiple trauma victims
- Patient extrication, immobilization, and transport
- Assisting Emergency Medical Training and Paramedics with more advanced care
The care steps outlined in the Emergency Medical Responder textbook are consistent with the:
- 2015 International Consensus on CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science with Treatment Recommendations.
- 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.
- 2015 American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines Update for First Aid.
This course meets or exceeds the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards Emergency Medical Responder Instructional Guidelines.
