This lifeguarding course, provided by Campaign Pay it Forward is a life saving course the includes all of CPR AED, First Aid and Lifeguarding.
Lifeguarding is a 24 hour in-person course and 8 hours of blended learning online portion provided by Campaign Pay it Forward.
This course is for new lifeguards or current lifeguards getting re-certified in all of CPR/AED, First Aid and Lifeguarding. Students must successfully complete this lifeguard training class, both in person skills sessions, the blended learning and pre-requisites to pass and receive their certifications.
Lifeguard training requires one to be at least 16 years of age by the last day of class for instructors to pass students. Depending on the city or state, age requirements may vary. CPR AED certifications require a person to be 13 years old or higher upon completion of the class. After participants have passed their certificate, they can expect to receive their completion certificate with two days.
Lifeguard classes include material that adheres to the American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid as part of the American Red Cross Lifeguard program. The American Red Cross Lifeguard training course is the standard that the Campaign Pay it Forward meets and exceeds are American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses.
The American Red Cross lifeguarding program is excepted nationally and internationally. Depending on the pools and recreation facility at which you plan on working, students should ask their facilities management which certifications they required. Other knowledge based classes may require beach certification, a specific certification depending on the city or location, and may require minimum of being re-certified each year or summer. Other nationally Recognized lifeguard programs are American Aquatics and Safety Training.
The Campaign Pay it Forward offers these courses in lifeguarding and water safety for certification and re-certification. Training includes prevent injuries, rhythmic breathing, swimming, front crawl and tread water in a pool. Campaign Pay it Forward has multiple location classes with many pools to provide training near you. Lifeguarding classes will review rescue techniques, water safety and develop skills for lifeguarding and first aid.
There are numerous steps prior to assisting an injured party. This website/ webpage should not be used in lieu of taking our course or used in part or parcel towards aiding a victim. For example, If you cannot confirm that the scene and environment surrounding the injured party is safe you should not approach and put yourself in harms way and steps should be taken to secure the scene by professionals. At no time should a non-professional person put themselves in harms way. The Lifeguarding course will prepare participants to respond with the appropriate emergency medical response.
Lifeguarding courses provide skills for a lifetime and most municipalities and the individual city require you to complete recertification a minimum of every two years. Lifeguard skills taught during your lifeguard training, courses and classes prepare you for emergencies, not only water safety, but including First Aid and CPR AED skills. Beyond just swimming, participants should expect to learn CPR AED and how to react and act during an emergency. The skills set that lifeguards possess upon certification from a lifeguard course or class can transfer to real life situations.
Becoming a lifeguard will give you a comfort level around friends, family and work during water related activities. Even during attendance at a facility that has a lifeguard, you skills can be immediately applied and you may react to aid and assist without hesitation. Being comfortable at a pool, beach or boat can assist with everyones comfort level and enjoyment.

4.0 CEU credits by Campaign Pay It Forward has been approved as an Accredited Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102.
Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years; Swim 300 yards continuously; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder.
Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding valid for 2 years.
